A Critical Performance Analysis of Thin Client Architectures

Thin Client computing usage has proved to bring enormous benefits to many organisations than the traditional mainframe computing architecture. The main reason is due to its architecture of the network as each of applications and services are centralised. As Thin Client computing operates on a network, their performance can be affected by both the quality of the network and the terminals. For the past few years, there are few analyses on the performance of Thin Client that can produce reliable, valid, and up-to-date results collected in a well designed and evaluated experiment based research. This research is aimed at analysing the performance of Thin Clients through experiment based research. The approach is to use benchmark application which is specifically designed for measurement of desktop computers by inserting delays in the visual elements of such benchmark application. In this slow-motion benchmarking technique, packet¿s behaviour is measured on the network as the application is executed from the server to a Thin Client. The performance is measured through monitoring the execution of web-based and multimedia applications. This research, therefore, follows all experimental p
