ASSESSMENT OF AUTOMATIC SEGMENTATION AND VOLUMETRIC AGEING

From the second decade of life, a decline begins to occurdiscretely and slowly progressive in brain volume and thisdecrease may be related to the loss and atrophy of neurons andglial cells and with the decrease of extracellular spaces. In thiswork, we analyze magnetic resonance images of individualsof the region of Campinas (SP), where, we were able to evaluate theeffectiveness of the segmentation obtained by two software, FSL and FreeSurfer. Ewe can see from FreeSurfer that the volumes of the encephals, thalamus and the white and gray substances have been reducedsignificant with ageing; and, that in males thesereductions are significantly greater than for women.
