Dr. N. A. Siddiqui currently working as Professor & Program Director, HSE & Civil Engineering Department University of Petroleum and Energy Studies, Dehradun, Uttarakhand, India. Dr. Siddiqui pursued his post graduate degree in environmental science and doctorate in environmental biology. In addition, he also has an International Diploma in Occupational Health (IDip. NEBOSH, UK), Diploma in Industrial Safety, and Postgraduate Diploma in Environmental Impact Assessment. His research interests lie in environmental impact assessment. He specializes in the areas of safety management, occupational health and safety, environmental pollution, environmental monitoring, and control techniques. He is currently working in the University of Petroleum & Energy Studies, Dehradun, as Professor and Program Director-Health, Safety & Environment and Civil Engineering. He was also associated with Health, Safety & Environment Department of ICEM College, Muscat, Oman, which is affiliated to the University of Central Lancashire, UK. He has more than 170 research papers to his credit and has participated in several national and international conferences. He has authored 14 books and has guided more than 200 M.Tech. theses and 21 Ph.D. theses.
Dr. S. M. Tauseef is Professor and Assistant Dean (Research) at the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies, India. He holds an M.S. in Chemical Engineering (process design) from Sharif University of Technology, Iran, and a Ph.D. in environmental engineering from Pondicherry University. His research interests include process safety, especially forecasting and consequence assessment of accidents in chemical process industries. He has developed methodologies for application of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to dense gas dispersion, vapor cloud explosions, and single and multiple pool fires. His other interest is in solid waste management, especially the design of continuously operable vermireactor systems for assorted wastes and high-rate anaerobic digesters. He has published 80 journal articles, co-authored/edited eight books, published three patents, and presented papers at 30 conferences.
Prof. S. A. Abbasi has been Full University Professor and Centre Director during 1987-2015 and is Emeritus Professor since then. Prior to this, he was Head-in-charge of the Water Quality & Environment Division at the Centre for Water Resources, Kozhikode (1979-87), and Visiting-cum-Adjunct Professor at California State University (1984-1987). He has also been Visiting Professor at the universities of Minnesota, Florida, California-Berkeley, Malaya, and Al-Ahsa. With 43 books, over 400 papers in indexed journals, 12 patents, close to 16,000 citations, and a Hirsch index currently at 70, he is among the world's foremost experts in the fields of process safety and environmental engineering. In the recent Stanford University study, he was ranked among the world's top 0.5% scientists and among the top 100 Indian scientists, independent on the area of specialization. Among numerous coveted honours and awards received by him are the National Design Award in Environmental Engineering, the IPCL Award for Safety and Hazard Management in Petroleum Industries, the National Hydrology Award, the International Desalination Association's Prize, and fellowships of the National Academy of Sciences and the Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers.
Dr. Rajendra Dobhal is currently working as Director General, Uttarakhand State Council for Science and Technology, Government of Uttarakhand, India. He had earlier been in positions like Chairman and Managing Director, National Research Development Corporation (NRDC), Government of India; Director, Uttarakhand Science Education and Research Centre (USERC) among others. He is also Chairman of the Sustainable Development Forum, Uttaranchal. A Fellow of The National Academy of Sciences, India, he is a known intellectual property (IP) professional trained from Department of Science & Technology, GoI; Washington University, USA; International Law Development Institute (ILDI), Manilla, Philippines, and National Law University, Bangalore. He has monitored over 250 R&D projects leading to national/international publications and patents. He successfully organized 11 Science Congresses in Uttarakhand leading to benefit over 10,000 scientists. He has written over 40 technical reports and 12 books, and published over 150 research papers in various journals of national and international repute. He was instrumental in signing numerous MoUs with organizations like Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India; European Business and Technology Center (EBTC) while serving Government of India; and Riverbank Filtration (RBF) Technology transfer from the University of Applied Sciences, Dresden, Germany.
Dr. Ankur Kansal received his M.Sc. degree in Environment Science and M.Tech. in Environment Science and Engineering followed by Ph.D. degree in Environment Sciences. He has published 8 research and review papers in journals of international repute. He is presently working with Uttarakhand Pollution Control Board and is involved in policy making in the field of environment protection and pollution control. He has prepared the Fuel Policy for the State of Uttarakhand, developed environment compensation regime as per 'Polluter Pay Principle' concept, and prepared Air Quality Improvement Plans for non-attainment cities of the state. He also worked as a regulator in the organization in the capacity of regional office to enforce Environment Acts and Laws.
