Posthumously published in 1964, this is Sylvia Plath's last collection of poems and it came with some controversy, as her husband, Ted Hughes, edited the original manuscript by deleting or adding some poems. This divided the critics between those who improved it as an intrusion and those who understood that Hughes and Plath used to collaborate. Finally, in 2004, the complete edition of Ariel that we now have came to light, with the original selection and organization of the poems, in an illustrated edition. This work is a brilliant sample of the poetic style of the great American writer, of alternately brutal and soft, cutting and caressing verses.
