In close readings, the book crosses expertly between American, German, and British versions of art history, cultural studies, aesthetics, film studies, along with the political agendas that motivate them in feminism, gender and queer theory, as well as identity politics more generally.
Susanne von Falkenhausen is professor emerita of modern and contemporary art history at Humboldt University Berlin.
