Chemical Biology of Neurodegeneration



Pedro Merino received his M.Sc. degree in Organic Chemistry in 1986 at the University of Zaragoza (Spain). In 1989 he obtained his Ph.D. in Chemistry at the same University. Between 1989 and 1991 he worked in Ferrara (Italy) as a post-doctoral associate with Alessandro Dondoni and in 1992 joined the University of Zaragoza as Assistant Professor where he started his independent research on Asymmetric Synthesis. In 2005 he won his habilitation as full professor in Organic Chemistry and in 2006 became Chair in Organic Chemistry at the University of Zaragoza. During 2010 and 2014 he has been Visiting Professor at the Universities of Messina and Ferrara, respectively. His scientific work has been presented in more than 220 papers, various book chapters and one book. His research interests include Chemical Biology with particular focus on glycoscience, computational chemistry, asymmetric organocatalysis and asymmetric synthesis.
