WAR is back. The intensity of the war in Ukraine has shocked the West. It has brought back an image of war that many thought would never happen again in the European theater. Battle groups of tanks in mass attacks. Airborne assaults against fortified defensive positions. Infantry engaged in full-scale urban combat. Rocket attacks against civilian population centers. Drone swarms. This is about the combat experiences gained in blood on the battlefield. "Combat Experience" looks at the craft of war and aims to convey which military lessons are important for us if we want to survive as free societies. The former infantry officer was particularly influenced by his deployments in Kabul and has been writing articles on infantry topics since 2013. Valerij ZALUSCHNYJ was Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Army from July 2021 to February 2024. He earned the reputation as the man behind his country's military success, which Russia attacked in February 2022.
