Diario de Un Hombre Superfluo

The concept of superfluous man, as an intelligent, sensitive and idealistic but nihilistic and indecisive man, became popular thanks to the publication of this work by Ivan Turgenev in 1850. This is a typical character in 19th century Russian literature and his recurring presence in poems, novels and theater he ended up becoming a national archetype.
