Museums, opera houses, theaters, concert halls, cultural centers, music schools, and adult education centers are buildings that shape a cityscape. They are motors of urban development and of cultural tourism, and they hold billions in investment volume. Not only the planning and construction of new buildings, but also renovating old cultural real estate and the conversion of architectural monuments are challenging tasks. The contributions to this volume are aimed at the specifics of the respective divisions (theaters, museums, etc.) and were written by representatives of public and private agent groups involved in the planning, construction, and operation of cultural real estate. For the very first time, they present holistic solutions for »cultural real estate« in the tensions of urban development and the cultural sector, investments and resulting costs.
