Die Kunst des Möglichen III

To what extent are our actions and their orders contingent on technology? After exposing technology's function of making things possible (Volume I) and developing a moral philosophy for dealing with technical possibilities (Volume II), Christoph Hubig now develops a technologically apt concept of power in this third volume (readable on its own) in a critical encounter with Foucault and Actor-Network Theory. Beyond any »technological determinism« or claims of an autonomous technology revolution, the difference between structural and network dynamics stands at the center of this endeavor. Furthermore, the results of this modeling are applied to the question of a change in autonomy and (ethical) control.

Christoph Hubig (Prof. Dr. phil.) lehrt Praktische Philosophie und Technikphilosophie an der Technischen Universität Darmstadt. Seine Forschungsschwerpunkte sind Wissenschaftstheorie, Kultur- und Technikphilosophie sowie anwendungsbezogene Ethik.
