ECOLOGICAL INVENTORY APPROACH FOR ASSESSMENT AND TRAINING

Education is the basic right of each child. Previously IQ based teaching models were used for the education of children with intellectual disability . Thus, aged students with intellectual disability were given the curriculum meant for lower aged groups. In the way the aged student felt shame while learning along with the lower age group children. In this book assessment and training functional skills of children with intellectual disability was done by using ecological inventories approach by involving parents is the main theme of this monograph/Book. The main objectives of this book/monograph is: 1) to develop ecological inventories for children with intellectual disability , 2) assessment and development of functional tasks for training of children with intellectual disability , 3) teaching the functional tasks using behavioral approach, and 4) evaluation the effectiveness of teaching functional skills tasks. This study helped to bridge the gap between the teaching and the application of information. It capitalized on the cognitive abilities of students by providing learning experiences which were concrete and practical rather than abstract and hypothetical
