Electropolymerised Coating On Aluminium For Corrosion Resistance

Electropolymerised coatings were synthesized on Al using bath1-3. The conditions for getting better quality coatings were optimized by carrying out at various concentration and voltage. Based on these property, we can optimize the polymer coating. At optimized conditions, the coatings are uniform and more stable. Further, 0.1M of zinc nitrate at 12V for 30 min yield better polymer coating and above 12V leads to peeling. From SEM analysis, it can be concluded that the alumina coating has some pores structure. These pores decrease in alumina-O-Phenylenediamine coating. But alumina-O-Phenylenediamine-Zinc Oxide coatings are strong and have nano-spher structure. EDX analysis confirmed that the coatings contain aluminium, oxygen, carbon and ZnO confirming the formation of Alumina-O-Phenylenediamine-Zinc Oxide coatings. From the corrosion studies, it can be concluded that the synthesized O-Phenylenediamine-Zinc Oxide coatings have very good corrosion resistance at 3.5% NaCl.
