Empowering Process in Business Organisations

Gaining sustainable competitive advantages by business firms require engaging every segment of the human resources and their interactions. Organizations often under-utilize all the capabilities that lie in its diversity of organizational groups while crafting the strategy. The diversity available is not only in terms of differences on readily detectable variables but also in implicit differences in perspectives, assumptions, beliefs and values with which the observable differences are correlated. People contribute to organization¿s performance differently, based on their perception of power and opportunity. The book explores one segment of the workforce diversity, the women in managerial positions that have both visible and non-observable characteristics. The book proposes six general stages of empowerment and an index of empowerment by using six factors. Each stage of empowerment has a set of unique empowering forces, empowering attributes and empowering outcomes that are useful while making internal analysis during strategy formulation by organizations.
