England under the Angevin Kings is a two-volume work by British historian Kate Norgate. It deals with the history of England in the 12th and early 13th centuries, when England was ruled by the Angevins. The Angevins were a royal house of French origin that ruled England for about 80 years; its monarchs were Henry II, Richard I and John. The term 'Angevin Empire' was coined by author Kate Norgate.
Kate Norgate (1853-1935) was a British historian. She was one of the first women to achieve academic success in this sphere, and is best known for her history of England under the Angevin kings and for coining the name Angevin Empire to describe their domains. She was self-educated in the Victorian era when higher education was generally denied to women.
