Ganitha Saakunthalam

This is the story of a cute little Sakuntalaa Devi, who made the entire world spellbound with her intelligence in mathematics. That was the age of five years when she cannot understand the meaning of genius and when she started earning for the maintenance of her family. This child prodigy formed a unique personality for herself gradually. She faced many challenges in the journey of her life and kept up her fame till her last minute. So much of mental conflict was there behind that practice. This book is a small endeavour to understand that struggle. It is the pre conceived opinion of the male dominated society that women cannot understand mathematics on par with them. Like Sakuntalaa Devi, two other women intellect T.A.Saraswathi Amma and Raman Parimala also disproved that belief and dedicated their lives to mathematics. This book gives a saluting written tribute to them also. So much of the hard work and perseverance was there behind this bypassing of the men. So many more intellectuals might have rendered service in mathematics, but their place remains the first. That's why, knowledge is not one's own property. It is like a fragrance and cool breeze that spreads throughout the world.
