Gastrointestinal Nematode of Goats in District SWAT

Goat one of the important livestock specie in both developing and developed countries, it has a pivotal role in small scale farming and rural economy. Parasitic nematodes of gastrointestinal tract (GIT) are the main constraints to goat production all over the world and a significant health issues in goat rearing areas with poor sanitation and management. Heavy economic losses due to parasites are associated with reduced productivity, mortality and parasite control measures. Goats harbor a variety of GIT parasites e.g. a voracious blood sucking nematode Haemonchus contortus, suck 0.05 ml of blood per day so host infected with 5000 nematode may lose about 250 ml blood per day.
