Gender Responsive Budgeting in India

Gender inequalities have been recognized inefficient and costly to sustainable economic growth and full social development of a country. Therefore, recently most of the countries as well as international agencies have committed to promote gender equity. It has been argued that the problem of gender inequality can not be resolved by the ¿trickle down effects¿ of macroeconomic policies and existing gender neutral budget. The women, along with men, should have a claim in government resources, policies and programmes.
