Geschichte(n) von Macht und Ohnmacht

Masculine violence is often considered a »fact of nature«: since the antique, masculine narratives have been linked with violence, or rather with the depiction of rituals, which take place on the basis of power structures which generate violence. In the light of current gender debates and the sociocultural dimension of violence, this interdisciplinary book problematizes this conception of the logic of masculine violence and dominance. In a historical overview, from the antique to the present, the essays look into socio-historical condition structures and typical narratives around the nexus of masculinity and violence.
