The ambivalent relationship between politics and violence, although currently explosive, thus far remains abstract and conceptually indistinct in political philosophy. This book draws on different disciplinary and subdisciplinary perspectives over and above political philosophy, for instance considerations from international relations or sociology. In this way, a more accurate and critical analysis emerges on a topic which poses a challenge to politics time and again.
