Harvesting Intervals Control Growth And Forage Quality Of Millet

Pearl millet (Pennisetum americanum L.) commonly known as bajra, belongs to family poaceae and is an important kharif season, dual purpose crop of rainfed regions. Due to it's high tillering capacity, drought and heat tolerance, high dry matter production, faster growth rate and higher yield may encourage its utilization as forage crop in low rainfall areas. Time of harvest is a major factor influencing yield and quality of forages. It has a very high nutritional values for livestock and human beings.
