Nestled at the edge of Acadia National Park, ghost stories abound from the woods to waters in many forms. Restless spirits from the Cottage Era when people like the Astors, Vanderbilts, and Rockefellers made the town their summer playground. Seafaring shades and those lingering at the very haunted Art Deco 1932 Criteron Theatre create a space filled with souls both alive and dead. The sound of horse hooves can be heard from the days gone by of carriages and horse shows and even the apparition of a much beloved cow makes her appearance now and again. Author and tour guide Jennifer Pictou reveals the many spooky sides of Bar Harbor.
