I 'Ricettari di segreti' nel Regno di Sicilia ('400-'600)

This study sheds new light on the language history of medieval and early modern Italy. It discusses the ricettari di segreti, a discourse tradition that is extremely complex and varied, both in terms of language and contents (conveying medical, scientific and religious knowledge). By studying these texts, the book analyzes the dynamics of linguistic contact in the Kingdom of Sicily and the development of heterogenous linguistic varieties.
