Andrew Thompson was born and raised in Sunderland and, following a degree in English, he won a DaDA Award and trained at Webber Douglas. He has spent the following decade working as an actor for companies including the National Theatre and Sheffield Theatres. He started writing and had his first work staged as part of Theatre503's Rapid Write Response nights. Andrew attended the Live Theatre Introduction to Playwriting and an Arvon course before being selected for an Arvon/Jerwood Fellowship, receiving mentorship from David Eldridge. He has had works staged at Arch468, Sheffield Theatres, Chats Palace, White Bear Theatre and The Vaults amongst others. His one act play Promises received a run at the Bridewell Theatre in 2015 (Good Picnic Productions) and The Allotment received development support from Arts Council England, Poleroid Theatre and Live Theatre, Newcastle.
