Introduction to Green Science and Technology for Green Economy

This book focuses specifically on the newly emerging issues related to the development of green technology, green industry, and green economy. It covers three parts, namely (1) socioeconomic sciences, (2) environmental science and technology, and (3) development of green services and challenges, each consisting of five to six chapters.

The topics not only introduce the basic concepts of economics and technology related to the development of green economy, but also address the challenges, policy instruments, and international initiatives. More importantly, the authors present several innovative ideas, indicators, and methodologies regarding the measurement of industrial transformation, resource efficiency, green competitiveness, and green trade. To facilitate research integration and meet the needs for comprehensive education on sustainable development, the book covers a wide range of sectors of major concern in the development of green industry, including green energy, green transportation, green building, green agriculture, and green tourism. The book also features regulations and policy instruments pervasively adopted worldwide and several unanimous case studies.

The book attracts a wide range of readers such as researchers, students, policymakers as well as entrepreneurs since it provides the emerging challenges, new concepts, innovative methodologies, and resolving strategies. The insights from the case studies are illustrative and inspiring.

Professor Chiang began engaging in teaching and research activities in National Taiwan University since he obtained Ph.D. degree from the Department of Civil Engineering, Purdue University, USA in 1982.
