Essay from the year 2010 in the subject Didactics - English - Discussion and Essays, grade: 1,7, University of Tubingen (Englisches Seminar), course: Written Communication 2, language: English, abstract: The relationship between rationality and morality has been a major concern of reasoning ever since. It is subject to an ongoing debate that can be melted down to the central question whether a rational thinking individual has reason to act immorally or not. As the following is going to expose, it has because rationality and immorality correspond with each other. First of all, it is consistent to human reasoning that immorality can provide personal advantages over moral behavior. This rationale takes on even greater significance in an immoral environment. Furthermore, the nature of the human intellect is apparantly egotistic; it tends to be immoral and, therefore, advises the individual to act accordingly.
