Judith of the Plains

Judith Rodney is a strong and independent woman and works as a postmistress in Wyoming. As fate would have it, her brother suffers due to the ill will of some cattlemen and plans a disastrous revenge plot that ends up killing him. Moreover, the man she is in love with, Peter Hamilton, does not appreciate her love for him and deserts her for another woman. Can Judith survive in such conditions? Will she ever find love again? Marie Manning (1872-1945) was a newspaper columnist and novelist in the early 20th century. She wrote the first newspaper advice column, Dear Beatrice Fairfax, in 1898, the precursor to modern versions such as Dear Abby and Ann Landers. She was an ardent suffragist and marched and lobbied for the cause, supported by her like-minded husband.
