Knowledge Management for Software Production

Knowledge management methods and tools used in a computer laboratory at a public university to produce simply software or specialized software are examined, i.e., whether the software produced is specifically oriented to a particular professional activity such as medicine, the automotive or aeronautical industry, or some other activity. And if not, we suggest paying attention to three well-known methods such as Nonaka and Takeuchi's SECI method, KPMG and Arthur Andersen's method which are better suited to a higher academic environment. Three tools are also mentioned and suggested that would help manage the information and knowledge generated much better, such as: a documentary database, a history of results, and a directory of experts. All this complemented with a modern, appropriate and sustainable in time ICT infrastructure plus the teaching commitment to exploit these methods and tools and to define an objective of specialized software development for any field would make a University a reference in the development of specialized software.
