Magnetite (Fe3O4) nanoparticles have aroused interest in the agro-food area due to the properties they have demonstrated in other fields, such as biocompatibility, low human toxicity and antimicrobial activity. Additionally, it has been reported that being coated with polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) provides them with greater stability, making their antimicrobial activity more effective. In the agro-food industry, spoilage microorganisms represent a serious economic and environmental problem because they cause diseases in foodstuffs, causing their decomposition and undesirable changes in their sensory properties, mainly affecting fruits such as tomatoes, which are considered of food importance for the world and the country. In this way, Fe3O4 nanoparticles coated with PVP show potentiality to be applied in the agro-food industry in the inhibition of microorganisms, particularly of the bacterium P. syringae pv. tomato, causal agent of the bacterial freckle. Therefore, it is of interest to perform physicochemical-electrochemical characterization and evaluation in the growth of P. syringae pv. tomato, in order to evidence its potential.
