This volume presents a cognitive analysis of the polyfunctionality of discourse markers. It focuses on the interrelation between form and function of the markers under consideration (anda, vamos, vaya and venga) and on the link between the pragmatic uses of the forms and the conceptualization of their lexical bases (i.e. the verb forms). The findings stress the importance of an integrated approach to the description of markers.
