Marie Grubbe

Marie Grubbe is a historical psychological novel that treats woman as a being driven by instinct and desire. The protagonist, Marie, is a Danish noblewoman that has a yearning for an individual and a satisfying erotic lifestyle. Searching for her own identity in a judgmental society might turn out to be easier said than done...!

J. P. Jacobsen (1847-1885) was a Danish novelist, poet, and scientist. He started the naturalist movement in Danish literature and featured as a part of the Modern Breakthrough. Jacobsen's bibliography comprises two novels, seven short stories, and one posthumous volume of poetry which was enough to place him as one of the most prominent Danish writers.
