Menschenrechte in der Einwanderungsgesellschaft

If in the 1980s the multicultural society was considered largely an emancipatory project, then today it provokes fears of authoritarian milieu structures which are primarily associated with Islam. Heiner Bielefeldt develops a concept of enlightened multiculturalism, the foundations and the limits of which are located in human rights. According to this concept, he analyzes the current controversies around the hijab, religious education, forced marriages, citizenship tests and the integration of Islamic minorities. This book is conceived of as a contribution to the contemporary debate in Germany around integration.

Heiner Bielefeldt (Prof. Dr.) hat von 2003 bis 2009 das Deutsche Institut für Menschenrechte geleitet. 2007 wurde er zum Honorarprofessor an der juristischen Fakultät der Universität Bielefeld ernannt. Seit September 2009 hat er den neu eingerichteten, interdisziplinären Lehrstuhl für Menschenrechte und Menschenrechtspolitik an der Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg inne.
