Midnight Murders on Rock Cut Road

A detailed history of the murders of three civil rights workers, Mickey Schwerner, James Chaney, and Andy Goodman, by Klansmen on June 21, 1964 in Neshoba County, Mississippi. The author used FBI documents and photographs, participant confessions, and newspaper articles to reconstruct the history and perform a forensic analysis based on the original autopsy and FBI lab reports, along with a visual reconstruction of the events at various locations on that day using photos taken by the author. A second volume details the pursuit of justice for the murders using trial transcripts, court documents, newspaper articles, and interviews with participants. Subjects covered are the civil rights movement in Neshoba County, the 1967 civil rights trial, its appeals, the battle by local residents to obtain prosecution, and the 2005 murder trial and its appeals.
