Model for reducing accident rates using the Pareto Principle

Loss or damage due to occupational accidents demonstrates the existence of quality problems in the workplace. Accident investigation reports provide valuable information that can be used for preventive purposes. From it, we can recognize the critical characteristics of the work, regarding the personnel, the work environment and the work organization. The Pareto Principle allows us to determine which are those few causes (20%) that cause 80% of the consequences to which we must dedicate all our attention by adopting effective control measures that help to avoid new events.
