Hello, my name is Benjamin, and my journey of suffering began in 1996 at the age of 16 when I woke up one morning and felt a strong pain on the inside of my left buttock. Not fully awake yet, I discovered a horrific sight in the mirror as I tried to understand the cause of this pain. It was an elongated, roughly cucumber-shaped, and large abscess that caused such a painful inflammation that I couldn't sit or walk properly. I believe I will never forget this first abscess.
I am writing this book as someone who has personally experienced various health challenges and wants to show other sufferers that there can be solutions. After more than 25 years, I have managed to free myself from Hidradenitis Suppurativa and, after over 11 years, from depression. And the best part is, I can eat anything I want again. No more flare-ups, no more abscesses three days after having frozen pizza and chocolate, nothing. It's truly a wonderful feeling after such a long time and all the nightmarish scenes associated with these two diagnoses.
