Profile Analysis Auditory Intensity Discrimination

Recent research on auditory profile analysis is the subject of this book - the ability of human listeners to discern changes in the shape of complex acoustic spectra. Discrimination of intensity changes is also discussed, along with the physiological mechanisms responsible for these discrimination processes. The author concludes with two new theories in an effort to better our understanding of more complex auditory skills, such as listening to music or speech.
