Racism as a Global Problem. A Teaching Concept within the Framework of the Idea of Global Education (Recommended for 10th Grade)

Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2020 im Fachbereich Didaktik für das Fach Englisch - Sonstiges, Note: 1,3, Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: This paper is a teaching concept for a tenth class on how to deal with racism. Since this lesson deals with a very ethical subject, the author has chosen a more individual form of teaching than it might be customary for English lessons. Racism is an issue that has been moving mankind for centuries and that is very complex and unpleasant. Since many people suffer from racism worldwide, are excluded or even killed, it is all the more important to explain racism and to talk about it. This might be a good topic in the context of Global Education which is the idea of gaining ¿knowledge about world countries and cultures, and about global problems, their causes, and solutions¿. This teaching concept deals with how we, as teachers, can help to understand the concept of racism and ask ourselves what each individual can do to combat it.
