Round the Fire Stories is a volume collecting 17 short stories written by Arthur Conan Doyle first published in 1908. As Conan Doyle wrote in his preface, this volume include stories concerned with the grotesque and with the terrible. Murder, madness, ghosts, unsolved crimes, diabolical traps, and inexplicable disappearances abound in these exciting accounts narrated by doctors, lawyers, genetlemen, teachers, burglars, dilettantes, and convicted criminals. 

Sir Arthur Ignatius Conan Doyle (22 May 1859 - 7 July 1930) was a British writer and physician. He created the character Sherlock Holmes in 1887 for A Study in Scarlet, the first of four novels and fifty-six short stories about Holmes and Dr. Watson. The Sherlock Holmes stories are considered milestones in the field of crime fiction.
