Klaus Engeler was born on 10 August 1961 in Cuxhaven and began his career in shipping at the age of 15. He began the typical training as a sailor and attended the maritime school in Cuxhaven at the age of 20, where he obtained the small patent as a captain. Immediately afterwards, he obtained his technical college entrance qualification and the intermediate patent as a captain. In 1986, he graduated from a technical college and studied nautical science at the College of Nautical Science in Bremen. In 1991, he obtained a diploma in nautical science and thus a patent as a captain on a large voyage. In 2001 he stayed ashore and became inspector or operations manager of a stevedoring company, where he also later developed the idea for the present specimen as a recognized instructor. In 2016, he moved to the cargo planning department of a highly reputed heavy-lift cargo shipping company.
