Study on morpho-economic traits in Okra (Abelmoschus esculentus L.)

This book is an about research work on okra (Abelmoschus esculentus (L.) Moench). It summarizes the research entitled ¿studies on genetic variability for morpho-economic traits among genotypes of okra (Abelmoschus esculentus (L.) Moench)¿. Okra has remained almost neglected for its genetic improvement to increase yield potential for commercial exploitation. Based upon this research work it could be suggested that in plant breeding programmes of okra, major emphasis should be given on total fruit yield per plant followed by marketable fruit yield per plant, number of fruits per plant, fruit length, average fruit weight, plant height, crop duration and number of branches per plant. Evaluation of germplasm is the basic tool for identification of important genotypes. I hope this study will be followed up by many others. It hope this study would be useful for many students and researcher who involved in research work in okra.
