The aim of this volume is to present to the general reader and those professionals engaged in civil engineering and associated disciplines, an overview of ancient technology. From antiquity to c.500 AD, this book attempts to present a global view of the various technologies - and their development - as used by the engineers, architects and masons of the ancient world. A broad range of topics is covered from agriculture, irrigation, water supply, roads and communications, to tunnelling and building construction.
