The Angel Who Could Not Sleep

Christmas is an exciting time when children find it hard to sleep. This, too, is the case of Dominic, in The Little Angel Who Could Not Sleep. In Heaven as on earth, the celebration of the birth of the Christ Child is celebrated as the angels recreate the nativity scene as described in the Gospel of Luke. This is Dominic's first Christmas. He is overjoyed because he had been chosen to view the pageant from atop the shoulders of Gabriel - one of God's most powerful angels. On the eve of the pageant, his Cloud Mother, Darling, encourages him to sleep. But Dominic cannot - he is too excited. Giving in to his pleas to stay awake, Darling comes up with a multitude of tasks designed to tire the little angel. In a twist at the end, Dominic makes this one of the best pageants ever. This story submitted to Terri Valentine at Writer's Digest Second Draft for critique. She wrote: What a wonderful Christmas story. Again, your angel characters are so well drawn they literally pop off the page for the reader. This story can stand alone as a Christmas story. Next story, 'The Angel Who Could Not Sing' will be available March 2014.
