Ralph Delahaye Paine (1871-1925) was an American journalist and author popular in the early 20th century. After he left journalism, Paine became a prolific writer of history and fiction, writing about topics including Salem, Massachusetts, piracy, merchant shipping, naval vessels, college life, sports, and autobiography.Paine was indicted for piracy with a capital crime, after sailing on a boat that was smuggling munitions.
