The Girl Who Said No to the Nazis

A true story of incredible courage about how a young student and her friends stood up to fascism in Nazi Germany - part of the True Adventures series Nazi Germany, 1942. As World War Two rages, Sophie Scholl reunites with her beloved brother Hans in Munich. Soon she meets his young student friends. Like her they can take no more of the war. Then leaflets calling for a revolt against Hitler start appearing, put out by a mysterious group called the White Rose. Who are these people? No one knows. But the Gestapo is determined to hunt them down - and suddenly Sophie finds herself in the most terrible danger.

Haydn Kaye has loved history since he was very young. His mother helped to spark his interest by telling him what it was like to be a child during World War Two. Then he went on to study history at Oxford University, before teaching and writing about historical subjects ranging from the pyramids to the Olympics, and from inventor Thomas Edison to writer Roald Dahl. His latest books for younger readers have been the life stories of Emmeline Pankhurst and Albert Einstein.
