Egypt was commonly referred to as the land of men, as many of the rulers in Egypt were men. Despite this, several women managed to clinch power in Egypt, and one of them was Hatshepsut. Other women who became the queens of Egypt apart from Hatshepsut include Nefertiti, Sobekneferu, and Cleopatra VIII. Historically, the Egyptians believed there was a difference in how men and women ruled. Many would ask why the Egyptians believed that men were better at ruling than women, which led to more kings than queens in Egypt. Hatshepsut is different from the rest because she is the only Queen who ruled for the longest time, with her reign running for 22 consecutive years. During her tenure, she attained more glory than the other female pharaohs and even some of the kings who had ruled before her. Many thought she would underperform her predecessors when she came into power, but she did the unimaginable as a woman. Egypt never embraced women rulers, for they thought women were not good rulers.
