The Social Influence Guide for Shy and Nervous People

Social phobia is a psychiatric disorder in which anxiety interferes with an individual's ability to function in various settings. This disorder may become an issue in areas of social events, work, school or even during everyday routines. With changes in the diagnostic criteria it is now a requirement of the clinician to determine if social phobia is an issue. Therefore, the clinician must evaluate whether the phobia is exacerbated by a general anxiety, medication side effects or strength, medical conditions which bring on social anxiety or a combination of any of these factors. Examples of medical conditions which bring on social phobia would be obesity or deformity.
