The "Water Security" Principle Under Nile Basin CFA

The purpose of the international law is to pave a way in which one can live without harming the other in a cooperation and compromise manner. As such, using trans-boundary River in equitable & reasonable way is justifiable under international water law. The Nile Basin, which incorporates the North-Eastern African Nile Riparian Countries, brings hope with the establishment of CFA in paving a way for equitable & reasonable utilization of Nile water and its resources by all upper & down riparian Countries. However, with the intention of using the Nile River by the down riparian states, mainly that of Egypt, the latter insist in incorporating the indeterminate, elastic, ambiguous & non-legal term called ¿Water Security¿ Principle in the Nile Basin CFA which could enable them to preserve its historic power hegemony over Nile riparian countries. This closes the door of the international fundamental principle which strongly suggests using trans-boundary River in equitable & reasonable manner. Moreover, it also significantly tipped the balance toward the undesirable result of either freezing the status quo in an endless negotiation process or decade long negotiations back to the dead-end!
