The West African Methodist Collegiate School Band

A true meaning of Collegiate Rah! Rah! Rah!Is a story of liberated African slaves, in Sierra Leone; struggles and fight to be educated - light and knowledge to illuminate the Dark Continent? Captives freed in the middle of the Atlantic. As opposed to the Nova Scotians. They were barred from education and worship in Anglican churches. The fight takes on a life in- no failure shall impede them, onwards until Africa's sons get the best. These band of few dared to rise, seeking truth justice and honour for all. The four pillars truth, justice, live and honour, a future for Africans - new vistas. That fight Collegiate - a symbol of their struggles, came alive in 1911 when the school was allowed. Housed in a wooden house in the centre of Freetown with 30 students the victory was born. Inspired, weary but unbowed they penned the lines to Immortalise their sacrifice. The call has come to Africa's sons to do and to endure. The chorus Rah Rah! Rah, is the lifting up to God that their realised dreams Collegiate Rah! Rah! Rah! is alive. With a motto Plus Ultra - more beyond.
