This is the first English book talking about the Three Gorges Project Eco-Environmental Monitoring System (TGPEEMS). Zhenli Huang, professor, born in 1966 in Pingba County, Guizhou Province,China; graduated from the hydraulic engineering department of Tsinghua University in 1993, with a PhD Eng., having engaged in technology and management for the Three Gorges Project (TGP) since 1993; now serving as director and professor of National Research Center for Sustainable Hydropower Development, China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research (IWHR); and former deputy director-general (2002-2012) of the Reservoir Management Department of Executive Office, State Council Three Gorges Project Construction Committee (SCTGPCC) (a high ranking decision-making agency);longtime responsible for the research, monitoring and management concerning TGP environmental protection, participated in reviewing of TGP major technical engineering and coordinator in the TGP's navigation and sediment studies; publishing more than 60 papers and more than 10 works and technical reports in academic publications a
nd conferences at home and abroad; winner of the third class and the second class awards for scientific and technical progress from the State Education Commission in 1996 and 1998 respectively , and the national second class award for scientific and technical progress in 2005.Bingfang Wu, professor, born in 1962 in Yushan County, Jiangxi Province, China; graduated from the environmental engineering department of Tsinghua University in 1989, with a PhD Eng.; now serving as a director assistant of the Applied Remote Sensing Institute of CAS, and a director of the Information Center of Ecological and Environmental Monitoring Network for the Three Gorges Project, responsible for the construction of the TGP Eco-Environment Monitoring Information System, carrying out remote sensing dynamic and real-time monitoring and revising the Action Program for the implementation of the TGP Eco-Environment Monitoring System; Publishing more than 100 papers in academic publications and confe
