Tippy's Story

The unsung hero of the equestrian world is the riding school horse or pony. Whether you are an Olympic showjumper, a long-distance riding competitor, a horse racing jockey or a mum who plods out on a Sunday, you most likely began your career on a riding school horse. Tippy joined my riding school in 2005. This is her true story.

Lucy Postgate's horse-riding career began as a young child playing ponies cantering around her London bedroom. After the family moved to East Sussex Lucy began to learn to ride real ponies at Hope in the Valley Riding School in Lewes. She was aged ten. Lucy went on to take and pass her BHSAI in 1975 and has been running her own riding school since 1977. Lucy is married to Tim Duffield. They have two grown-up children, George and Alanna.
