Velikolepnaya dvadtsatka: Arhitektura Moskvy i zachem ona byla

20 years ago the burden of the Soviet state has been lifted off of Russian architecture - what has been achieved since? 'The Glorious Twenty', a new book by Grigory Revzin, is an attempt at a distressing summary of the past twenty years of Post-Soviet architecture, that failed to solve the unsolvable ideological problems of the new society - its aspiration to join Western civilization and an effort to dissociate itself from the Soviet historic and cultural experience. Grigory Revzin is architecture critic and special correspondent at the Kommersant Publishing House. He is the author of 'Neoclassicism in Russian Architecture of the early 20th Century' (1992), 'Essays on the Philosophy of Architectural Form' (2002), 'On the way to Bolivia: Notes on Russian Spirituality' (2006) and others.
